A pump is a device that moves fluids from one place to another by mechanical action. It is basically the oldest form of machine dating back to ancient Egypt. Shadov was the first device used to raise water in early civilizations and therefore it can be said that it was the first form of pump in the world.
Since pumps have been invented for so long, it’s no surprise that there is a seemingly endless variety of sizes and types used in numerous applications across industries.
Classification of pumps:
Pumps are divided into 2 main categories: dynamic displacement and positive displacement. Below are some of the pumps available in both categories (of course, it is impossible to make a list of all available pump models), but some important types of pumps The available ones are as follows:
Dynamic pumps:
– Centrifugal pumps
– Vertical centrifugal pumps
– Horizontal centrifugal pumps
– Submersible pumps
– Fire pumps
Positive displacement pumps:
– Diaphragm pumps
Gear pumps
– Peristaltic pumps
– Lobby pumps
– Piston pumps
